  Our 9-12 Mission Statement

 If you believe this country is great but those in government are corrupt
and bringing us down -- it's time to stand up!      And come on ... join us today.


 

The Marietta OH 9-12 Project is a group of concerned citizens (Republicans, Democrats, Independents) here in Southeastern Ohio who are concerned about where our nation is heading. 
 
  
 

 
 
 

  • We are a grassroots, nonpartisan group opposed to wasteful government spending.
  • Our core values are fiscal responsibility, limited government, and free markets.
  • Our goals include education of The Constitution, influencing elections for the betterment of America, promoting state sovereignty (Federalism), and compelling our elected officials to comply with the Constitution as written by our Founders. 
  • We feel the two-party system at this time no longer listens or represents us.

 Our goals are very simple ... Educate-Evaluate-Motivate!

Educate: We want to Educate as many people as possible concerning our United States Constitution.

Evaluate:
We want to Evaluate every political officeholder and hold them accountable.

Motivate:
We want to motivate the grassroots conservatives Republicans, Democrats and Independents who no longer feel they have a political home.

A Declaration of American Principles
 
When those in government ignore their solemn promise to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, the people have the right and duty to hold them accountable.

We have witnessed a long campaign to erode our constitutional rights and undermine the governmental checks and balances that protect our liberty.

Because we love our country, its ideals and its people, we are compelled to reaffirm our belief in the principles stated in the Declaration of Independence and the limitations on governmental power established by our Constitution. We are also compelled to explain how our government has overstepped its bounds and to request corrective action by our elected leaders.

We reaffirm our belief in the following principles:
1. Individuals have certain rights inherent to human beings, including the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. These “unalienable rights” are endowed by our Creator and cannot be taken away. For example, 51% of the people are not entitled to confiscate the property of the other 49%.

2. Governments are instituted to secure these rights and derive their just powers from the consent of the governed. If the people have not granted a power to the government through the Constitution, it does not have that power.

3. Limited government is essential to the protection of liberty, and the checks and balances established by our Constitution are essential to limited government. These include enumerated powers, federalism, the separation of powers, and the rule of law.

4. Liberty and equality are not the same. Liberty demands that men begin life equal to every other while character and accomplishment define their stature moving forward. Government should not favor one individual or group over others in an attempt to achieve equality.

5. Private property and free markets are essential to our prosperity and freedom.

6. Reckless government spending is harmful to our economy and condemns the people to a form of oppression through high taxes.

7. As stated in the Declaration of Independence, “. . . whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it . . .”

These principles are as important today as they were at our founding. They set our country apart and make it a model of freedom and prosperity for the world.

We are proud of this heritage and wish to preserve our “Great Experiment” for generations to come. We believe this requires stating how our government is violating these principles and what corrective action must be taken.

Examples of Violations of these Principles

Our federal government has violated these principles in many ways, including the following:

- Passing laws without regard to the enumerated powers in the Constitution

- Weakening the Bill of Rights to allow the confiscation of private land for private use.

- Imposing onerous regulations that diminish the value of private property

- Government ownership and control of businesses

- Restricting political speech through campaign finance laws

- Ineffective action to stop illegal immigration

- Appointing judges who invent laws and dictate social policy

- Restricting the ability of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms

- Voting on bills before our representatives have read and debated them

- Confiscatory taxation

- Running deficits and saddling future generations with the resulting debt.

- Using the power of the government to redistribute wealth and favor certain groups

- Passing laws that do not apply to certain elected officials

Preliminary Steps to Reinstitute These Principles

- Unite as citizens around a common purpose and idea, that America is still the land of freedom and opportunity where ordinary people can do extraordinary things.

- Hold our elected officials accountable to our federal and state Constitutions and ignore their party affiliations and rhetoric, while focusing on their actions.

- Reduce the size and scope of our federal government to reestablish limited government and avoid unnecessary public debt.

- Reduce taxes to allow people to keep more of their money so they can save, invest, or spend it as they see fit.

- Unleash the power of free individuals and entrepreneurs to build businesses and create lasting prosperity without excessive government intrusion.

- Make our own decisions without federal intrusion on matters such as our health care, our children’s education, our businesses, our properties and our lives.

- Make politicians subject to the same laws as the rest of us.

- Prevent the federal government from exercising powers reserved to the states and to the people under the Tenth Amendment.

We, the members of the Ohio Liberty Council, unite with those who seek to preserve our great republic under the same principles that have proven to be a formula for success with each generation of Americans who valued them.

Together, with a firm reliance on divine Providence, we will reignite the spirit of liberty and help our country return to its founding principles. We invite you to stand with us
